What convinced us

Developed by the US Navy for military use in the United States around 1951, thermal waffle knit quickly found its place in civilian underwear. Its waffle structure was later adopted in workwear and outdoor circles for its insulating qualities, lightness, and breathability.

Its grid-like air pockets trap body heat and enhance thermal insulation without adding the weight of a thicker fabric.

Over time, the thermal evolved beyond its primary function as underwear to become a staple of American workwear, worn as a base layer or on its own.

Our version of the thermal, the UUUNDER TEE, draws inspiration from these vintage models, but features a construction rarely found in thrift store pieces today. Crafted from 100% cotton in Portugal, we kept the spirit of traditional thermals while giving it a more contemporary fit: a snug crew neck, a boxy silhouette, and slightly dropped shoulders, designed to be worn on its own or layered under a T-shirt or shirt.
